KEY PRACTITIONER LESSON 1- in the countenance of kings
I quite enjoyed watching this piece as there was a myriad of components that appealed to me as both a dancer and spectator. The music was definitely one of the most prominent features that influenced the piece- the score started off with violin plucking, this in turn evoked the feeling of anticipation and excitement. The odd time signature is the first aspect that connoted towards an idea or freedom or normality. The video starts off in a typical studio setting however there is a dog- this anomaly could have been easily overlooked as a random choreographic quirk but alternately it can be interpreted as Peck highlighting the theme of normalcy in this piece. The girl's reflection takes out her hair and lets it down- this simple action has significance as it further contributes to this idea of freedom and letting go. Within the dance it was interesting to observe that all the transition steps were running, again promoting the theme of freedom. What can also be appreciated from ...
I really enjoyed watching your vlog, you come across as very confident. I like the way you have discussed the challenges you've faced, although it sounds like you have overcome these really well. I think its good that you have mentioned your chosen choreographer. I look forward to seeing your final choreography piece. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!
DeleteYour vlog is very clear and well structured. I think it's really interesting that you incorporated elements of Crystal Pite's style into your work and a great way to express why you have chosen her as your practitioner. Have you used any of her choreographic techniques in your work?
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have used lots of levels in my piece which is a technique I have noticed in Pite's work, especially in 'Flight Pattern'.
DeleteI enjoyed watching such clear and informative vlog, I wondered whether you have added any objectives to your original three during the creative sessions?
ReplyDeleteYes, I only considered 1 extra one which was to pay attention to facial expression but other than that I just tried to focus on those objectives I had initially set myself.
