    In your vlog, you spoke really clear and it was clear you had researched lots about Crystal Pite and why you had chosen her. I liked how you spoke about her different pieces and how this made the audience feel

    I really enjoyed watching your vlog as you have included lots of valid points to do with Crystal Pike.You have gone into great detail about her different pieces. Also, you have included information about background of the piece as well as the emotions of the piece.
    How are you going to link her ideas to your piece?

      I am going to use a stimulus that I want to bring awareness to in an attempt to educate audiences. I will also use emotive movements and narrative in order to keep the audience engaged.

    I really enjoyed watching your vlog, and I think you came across as very confident. Your vlog is also extremely informative and I can see that you have done a lot of further research into your chosen choreographer. I also like the way you have gone into detail about the choreographic devices and processes she uses. Well done.

      Because I sometimes struggle with choreographing, I think it might have been interesting to find out how Pite copes with running out of ideas/inspiration.

KEY PRACTITIONER LESSON 1- in the countenance of kings

I quite enjoyed watching this piece as there was a myriad of components that appealed to me as both a dancer and spectator. The music was definitely one of the most prominent features that influenced the piece- the score started off with violin plucking, this in turn evoked the feeling of anticipation and excitement. The odd time signature is the first aspect that connoted towards an idea or freedom or normality. The video starts off in a typical studio setting however there is a dog- this anomaly could have been easily overlooked as a random choreographic quirk but alternately it can be interpreted as Peck highlighting the theme of normalcy in this piece.   The girl's reflection takes out her hair and lets it down- this simple action has significance as it further contributes to this idea of freedom and letting go. STUDIO PERFORMANCE

The studio performance went better than I anticipated it would be. I was initially very worried about forgetting my dance or making a mistake but I didn't and I am overall quite pleased with the final outcome. I am very glad we had the opportunity to have a studio rehearsal as we were able to get feedback from my teacher and peers as a new perspective can help identify problems, spacing issues and clarity of dynamics being among these. My feedback from my teacher was to firstly be more expressive while I'm dancing, I feel that I definitely could have used my facial expression more but I was too focused on just remembering the choreography. Next time I perform, I am really going to emphasise this and loosen up my neck as I know it will enhance my performance and make it appear more natural. Furthermore I need to be more spatially aware as I seemed to have run out of space during the front-right corner section. To rectify this, I have thought about what opportunities I can use...

In this critique I will be exploring comparisons in movement style, dynamics and intentions of 'Emergence' and the two other pieces I have previously reviewed. I feel that the narrative and influences of this piece are so different to 'Flight Pattern' and 'The Seasons Canon'.
